Headteacher of an Independent SEN school. Have taken on another school within the company at the same time as part of a turn around project. Formerly headteacher of large inner city secondary mainstream school.
I have facilitated a number of cross city Mastermind groups. I have coached numerous senior leaders and set up a whole school coaching system in my previous mainstream setting. I am currently studying for my Advanced Certificate in Executive Coaching through the University of South West England. The course is accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management. I am a senior school leader of 20 years experience who has led a number of schools in different settings and at different stages of their journey's and have formally and informally coached a large number of colleagues during this time.
Coaching is one of the most effective ways to quickly develop leadership. Encouraging a reflective and emotionally self aware approach ensures that leaders at all levels can rapidly gain the skills and knowledge to successfully lead and develop their own teams. I believe the correct coaching model will question leaders answers as opposed to answering their questions. The support, accountability and success of those being coached should be at the heart of all communication. Sessions must be based on mutual trust, confidentiality and a rapport that is rapidly established between coach and coached. I am a reflective practitioner able to coach for performance, skills, development and transformational change coaching using a variety of questioning techniques including clean and precision questioning. I have also used different models of coaching including 'Thinking Partnership Process', 'Well Formed Outcomes' and more often the 'GROW' model. I believe in building coaching relationships based on trust, integrity and the empathy that 20 years as a school senior leader can bring.
