Biography:

I am the Exec Head Teacher in a Multi Academy Trust. My qualifications are B Ed Primary Education, M Ed Educational Leadership, NPQH, PG Process Consultancy Associate Member of the Association of Education Advisers.

Through the Process Consultancy course, I have worked with Head Teachers and Senior Leaders to identify skills and process to effect change within organisations. After completing this qualification, I have successfully supported Senior Leaders to gain Headships and Head teachers to make changes to practices and policies within school for rapid improvement. I am able to draw upon a wide range of teaching experiences to support and guide colleagues, helping them to develop their skills. As a Head teacher, I have particular strengths in:

  • Supporting new head teachers and acting head teachers
  • Self-evaluation and school improvement- identifying key priorities
  • Parental engagement
  • Behaviour management
  • Safeguarding
  • Cluster Working

The school has experienced colleagues able to support:

  • Assessment
  • A wide range of curricular areas including Maths, Writing, Guided Reading

Supporting NQTs I became a Local Leader of Education to support colleagues to enable the best outcomes and opportunities for all children. As a serving Head teacher who has worked in a variety of contexts I understand the pressures, challenges and opportunities that headship brings. I have established a multi-academy trust, so I know the legalities, processes and financial requirements needed to run a MAT. I work collaboratively with many organisations in Manchester such as Social Services as part of the Wythenshawe South Partnership and the Wythenshawe Education board, as I am committed to the collaborate responsibilities that we have for the children within our community. I also am part of the Manchester Schools Alliance steering group.

I am a friendly supportive person who can build trust so that strong conversations and open and honest conversations take place. I can establish a partnership and I am committed to the success of the person I am coaching. Using a supportive approach to motivate an individual whilst developing skills to address self-efficiency and educational outcomes. Leadership in Education is hard, the challenge is relentless. My purpose is to provide support and guidance to address the challenges that a Head Teacher faces. I am able to do this by analysing situations that have arisen or are on the annual agenda. Through planning, discussion and reflection I am able to enhance a person's creativity and help plan for change. This allows actions to be implemented which I am able to support. I am able to use tried and tested support processes based around Egan's Models to identify strengths and weaknesses and to help others explore a vision. The process involves identifying blind spots and flat sides so that the person or group I am working with can energise a team. This is important because it is the team within school that effects change. For change to be positive and impactful every member of the team needs to play a part in the implementation. This can be difficult for new leaders to facilitate if they have not experienced this way of working before. Having undertaken research-based qualifications I have a good understanding of theories and tried and tested models that can effect positive changes. Being a member of AoEA I keep up to date on current theories and practices as there are regular news posts, blogs and opinion sharing on topics such as 'The relationship between inspection and enabling improvement' Personal resilience etc.
