'NPQH is for highly motivated school leaders who are aspiring to become Headteachers or Heads of school. The course is also designed to be suitable for those who are already Head teachers or Heads of School with system leader responsibilities e.g. National Leaders of Education.The programme will develop talented leaders from all backgrounds who can deliver educational excellence in a self-improving system, and high quality outcomes for pupils and students.The support of a 'sponsor' from your school, usually your line manager or Headteacher, is essential to enable you to make the most of the programme. The NPQH also offers external coaching from a current school leader from the local area.'
The LLSE NPQH Package Includes:
- Online entry and exit leadership diagnostics that identify development areas through feedback from colleagues

- Weekend all-inclusive residential to apply new and prior learning in a highly interactive workshop based experience

- 'Shadow a Headteacher ' learning experience - 1 day, an opportunity to experience senior leadership in a different setting
- Support for your 9-day placement in a contrasting school where you will be completing your 2,500 word assignment

Core Facilitator: John Truman
John is an experienced teacher, Headteacher, Senior Local Authority Officer, Leadership Consultant and qualified Leadership Coach. He has over 30 years of working directly with children, schools and their Governing bodies. John has successfully led School, Local Authority and multi-agency teams and worked closely with Governing bodies in their development, appointment and appraisal of CEO's, Executive Headteachers, Headteachers and other senior leaders. More recently he has delivered the National College of Teaching and Learning 'Chairs Development Programme' for Kent County Council as well NPQML and NPQSL Programmes. John is a highly experienced, qualified leadership coach and trainer and is able to support and challenge Headteachers, Governors and other School Leaders to improve outcomes for children.

Teaching and Curriculum Excellence:
- Lead and grow excellent teaching in a school.
- Support pupils of all backgrounds, abilities and particular needs in the school to achieve high standards, including Pupil Premium, SEND, EAL or the most able pupils.
- Systematically review the cumulative impact of initiatives on teacher workload and make proportionate and pragmatic demands on staff.
- Hold all staff to account for performance using performance management, appraisal, misconduct and grievance systems.
- Create and sustain an environment where all staff are encouraged to develop their own knowledge and skills, and support each other.
- Anticipate capability requirements or gaps in the school and design strategies to fill them.
School Strategy and Improvement:
- Anticipate changes in the external and strategic environment.
- Develop an evidence based organisational strategy, in collaboration with the governing board.
- Lead a successful whole-school change programme.
Working in Partnership:
- Use different models of partnership working to improve educational provision, sustain a culture of mutual challenge and learn from others (including parents/carers, the wider community and other organisations).
- Lead and effective partnership which brings benefits to the school and wider education system, particularly in their school’s area(s) of expertise or specialism.
Managing Resources and Risks:
- Balance a school’s strategic or educational priorities with financial efficiency.
- Implement accountability arrangements to manage resources and risks effectively and in line with statutory requirements (where applicable, fulfilling the Accountability Officer role as defined in the Academies Financial Handbook).
The final assessment is submitted to an external assessor and comprises two sections :
- Lead a school change programme lasting at least 2 terms to improve pupil progress and attainment (task 1) (4000 words)
- Design an action plan to meet their placement schools' resourcing and capability needs (task2) (2500 words)
